Cultural Partnership Conference
The second annual Cultural Partnership Conference was held at the People's History Museum on 18th November 2011 and was based around the 'Community Inspired' theme of the Cultural Ambition. Following an open application process, cultural organisations we're invited to host and organise the conference, People's History Museumwere chosen as the venue itself and their plans really reflected the ideas around community and community inspired.
On the day over 100 cultural leaders attended to hear a keynote speech from Jim Tough, Area Executive Director - North, Arts Council England. There were also speeches from Councillor Mike Amesbury, Executive Member for Culture and Leisure and Vicky Rosin, Deputy Chief Executive at MCC. The afternoon saw Dave Moutrey of Cornerhouse and Maria Balshaw,Director Whitworth Art Gallery and Manchester City Galleries introduce the new Manchester Culture Model. Throughout the day delegates also attended a series of workshops and visited a marketplace featuring over 16 stalls from cultural and community organisations from across Manchester.
Feedback from the day has been positive so far and the People's History Museum is currently working on the final evaluation, details of which will be published on this site shortly.
